University City Summer Band 2016 Season
20th Anniversary Year
The theme for the 2016 season of the University City Summer Band is "Celebrating 20 years of..." Each concert will focus on a unique characteristic of the band.
Concert #5-July 19: Celebrating 20 years of… Guest Conductors
Local and nationally-renowned conductors join the U City Summer Band each year, bringing expertise and challenging new repertoire to the University City community. Conductors from within the band have also been featured. On July 19 Erica Neidlinger, Conductor of the De Paul (Chicago) University Wind Ensemble and band member Dale Skornia (Ferris State College in Big Rapids, Michigan) will lead the band. A brand new composition by local composer and conductor Jared Spears will also be included at this concert.

The 90-member (give or take) UCity Summer Band is... Light Classics, Marches, Patriotic Music, Show Tunes, Transcriptions, Popular Music, Jazz, and Original Music for Band.
All concerts start at 7pm and last about 60 minutes with a short intermission. You may come and go as you please.
For our last piece each concert, we play "On the Mall." Children are invited to come up to the front and conduct the band and receive their very own UCity Summer Band pencil!
